Why we're doing it
We are driven by a steadfast commitment to empowering communities and preserving the traditions that define our rich culinary heritage. We believe food is much more than just sustenance – it’s a vessel that carries stories, connects generations, and preserves the essence of who we are. Every jar we create is a celebration of these connections, a tribute to the farmers and women who cultivate and preserve Lebanon’s timeless flavors.
We partner with women producers each season to source handcrafted artisanal preserves. Each jar is carefully labeled with eco-friendly materials, highlighting the women behind the product, their village, and the unique story of each recipe. We also include pairing recommendations to elevate the culinary experience. Our mission is to connect people worldwide to the rich tradition of Lebanese artisanal mouneh, made with love and dedication by Lebanese women.
Meet the Founder
Martine Zaarour, architect-turned-entrepreneur and the creative force behind Jar Thuraya, believes that food is more than taste — it’s a story of roots, resilience, and revival.
Inspired by her grandmother’s recipes and driven by a vision to empower women across Lebanon, Martine transformed her passion for heritage and design into a sustainable social enterprise that celebrates Lebanese craftsmanship in every jar.
From architecture to artisanal food, her journey is a blend of creativity and purpose — honoring tradition while building pathways for women’s financial independence. Through Jar Thuraya, Martine continues to turn local flavors into global stories of love, care, and community.
